DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced this morning the selections for the 2026 All-CPL First and Second Teams.

Each team features 30 players: one per each infield position, six designated hitter/utility players, eight outfielders, and 11 pitchers (a combination of starters and relievers). Teams are selected with input from CPL head coaches.

Highlighting the First Team are 2026 CPL Hitter of the Year Brett Vondohlen (Middle Tennessee State/Boone Bigfoots, Starting Pitcher of the Year David Austen (Rollins College/Macon Bacon), and Reliever of the Year Ethan Blakeney (Norfolk State/Peninsula Pilots). Overall, 37 First and Second Team honorees were also previously honored as CPL All-Stars in early-July.

All three players of the year (Brett Vondohlen – Hitter / David Austen – Starting Pitcher / Ethan Blakeney – Reliever) earned First Team honors. Other standouts that were recognized for their strong seasons included first baseman Jovan Gill (Morehead City) and outfielder Mackenzie Wainwright (Wilmington), as well as starters Kory Williams (Morehead City) and Ryan Furey (Wilmington), and relievers Keller Eberly (Macon) and Cal Travers (Tri-City). Gill led the league in average (.400), doubles (17), and OPS (1.254), while he and Wainwright both finished with 68 hits, which was also a season best. Wainwright ended slashing .389/.486/.589 and led the Sharks to the 2026 CPL Petitt Cup crown. On the bump, Williams went 2-0 with a 3.60 ERA and 44 strikeouts across 30 innings of work, while Furey was 6-1 and an ERA of 2.36. Eberly sported a 1.35 ERA and 1-1 record with five saves, which tied for the league’s best mark, while striking out 39 in 20 innings. Meanwhile, Travers led the league in ERA at 0.90 and was 1-1 with 27 punch outs in 20 innings as well.

Morehead City had the most representatives with 11 selections, while Peninsula and Wilmington — both with eight each — followed closely behind. Asheboro and Forest City were next with five players a piece. After them were five clubs — Boone, High Point-Thomasville, Holly Springs, Macon, and Tri-City — that saw three of their players highlighted, while Florence and Martinsville each added two. Lastly, Greenville, Lexington County, and Zebulon closed things out with one alum each.
