DURHAM, N.C. – Boone third baseman Brett Vondohlen not only left his mark in Bigfoots lore this season, but in the history books of the Coastal Plain League (CPL) as well.
One of the top position players in the league, Vondohlen ended the 2026 campaign breaking two CPL single-season records, and tying a third. His 74 RBIs and slugging percentage of .787 each took over the top spots for the league, breaking the old records of 56 (Jayson Newman, Fayetteville ’17) and .769 (Chad Sedio, Edenton ’15) respectively. He also tallied 18 home runs, which tied the league single-season record with Myles Christian (High Point-Thomasville ’18).
This summer, Vondohlen slashed .379/.434/.787 across 43 games with 66 hits, 17 of which were doubles. He also drew 14 walks, was hit five times, scored 43 runs and sported an OPS of 1.221 for the Bigfoots. His name can be found among the Top 10 in several offensive categories, including batting average, hits, doubles, home runs, runs, RBIs, total bases, slugging and OPS.
A soon to be redshirt senior at Middle Tennessee State, he batted .225 in the spring with 10 doubles and seven dingers. He scored 34 runs and racked up 35 RBIs, while also tallying 77 total bases. And after a summer like he had in the CPL, there’s little doubt that Vondohlen will be a big factor offensively for the Blue Raiders.
