DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today that Asheboro first baseman Thomas Cano-Piszel and Morehead City pitcher Kory Williams were honored as the TrackMan CPL Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for Week 6 (July 5-July 9) of the 2026 season.

Cano-Piszel helped lead the ZooKeepers to a perfect 4-0 record on the All-Star-shortened week. Batting .556 with two home runs, he led the league with a 1.222 slugging percentage and 1.838 OPS. The sophomore from Delaware Ray also scored five runs, notched five RBIs, was walked three times, had a stolen base and a sacrifice fly to go with a .615 on-base percentage. A late addition to Asheboro, Cano-Piszel is currently batting .325 overall with a double, a triple, three homers, 15 runs and 13 RBIs. He’s walked 12 times and sports an OPS of 1.106.

Meanwhile, Williams has continued to be one of Morehead City’s best arms, finishing the week with a perfect 0.00 ERA and 1-0 record. The 6-4, 220-pound right-hander from Goldey-Beacom made the most of his single appearance on the week, pitching five innings of three-hit baseball, while walking none and striking out a league-best 12. He held opposing batters to a .167 average and sported a 0.60 WHIP and league-high 21.60 K/9. Williams has thrown 30 innings for the Marlins this summer. In that time, he is 2-0 with a respectable 3.60 ERA. He’s allowed just 12 earned runs on 28 hits, walked a mere six and struck out an impressive 44. Further, he has a WHIP of 1.13 and K/9 of 13.20.
