HOLLY SPRINGS – The Coastal Plain League announced today that Martinsville outfielder Lucas Carmichael and reliever Brady Pendley of Macon were selected as the Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for week three (June 9 – June 15) of the 2024 CPL season. Hailing from William & Mary, Carmichael swung an impressive .438 to go along with a .625 on-base percentage on the week. Four – three doubles and a triple – of his seven hits were for extra bases, while he also drew six walks and was hit twice. The senior also scored four runs, racked up eight RBIs, and stole one base. Further, he finished with a .750 slugging percentage and a league-high 1.375 OPS. On the season, Carmichael is slashing .383/.517/.511, with his batting average being tied for fourth-best in the CPL. He has 18 hits to his credit, as well as eight runs, 16 RBIs, nine walks, and four stolen bags.
Meanwhile, the 6-1, 175-pound Pendley continued his solid season for the Bacon. Although he didn’t earn a decision, he struck out a league-best 13 across six innings of work. The sophomore right-hander from Georgia Southern only allowed two hits and one walk on his way to holding opposing batters to a lousy .105 average. Pendley also finished with an impressive WHIP of 0.50 and K/9 of 19.500. Overall, he sports a 0.00 ERA with a pair of saves on the 2024 summer. In five appearances, he’s surrounded just three hits and walked one, while his 20 strikeouts is tied for fourth-highest in the league.
