Former Edenton Steamer, Jeremy Walker, made his Major League debut July 26 for the Atlanta Braves. Walker entered in relief in the ninth inning, pitching one inning and allowing one hit while allowing no runs run in the Braves 9-4 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies.

Walker was drafted in the 5th round of the 2016 MLB Draft by the Atlanta Braves out of Gardner-Webb University. Across four seasons at the minor league level, the right-hander accumulated a 3.64 ERA over 390 2/3 innings pitched. Most recently Walker held a 2.84 ERA with 71 strikeouts and only eight walks to go along with seven saves at the double and triple A levels before receiving his callup earlier this week.

Walker played in both 2014 and 2015 for the Steamers, holding a 7.25 ERA across 22 1/3 innings pitched. He marks the 125th all-time former CPL player to make their major league debut and the 16th all-time for the Edenton franchise.
