Former Wilson Tob, Brian Moran, made his Major League debut September 5 for the Miami Marlins. Moran entered in relief in the fourth inning, not allowing a hit or a run and striking out one in his inning of work to earn the win in the Marlins 10-7 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Moran was drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 MLB Draft by the Seattle Mariners out the University of North Carolina. A number of injuries and set backs had held Moran from his MLB dream despite a career 3.15 ERA across his 466 1/3 innings pitched at the minor league level. The left-hander spent a total of ten seasons with four different teams in the minor leagues before ultimately receiving his long awaited callup this week. Even more special he would face his brother, Colin Moran’s, team in Pittsburgh and end up notching his first career strikeout in the process.

Moran played during the 2008 summer for the Tobs, holding a 2.72 ERA and 3-1 record across 36 1/3 innings pitched. He marks the 130th all-time former CPL player to make their major league debut and the 13th all-time for the Tobs franchise.
