
DURHAM, N.C. – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today that Holly Springs shortstop Brady Gold and Forest City pitcher Ron Robinson were named the TrackMan CPL Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for Week 8 (July 19-July July 25) of the 2026 season.
Gold came up big in helping the Salamanders go undefeated on the week. The sophomore from Wofford batted .412 with seven hits, five runs, and a league-best 10 RBIs. He recorded three extra base hits (one each), reached via a walk once, and being hit twice, while also stealing four bags. He also sported a .500 on-base percentage, .765 slugging, and an OPS of 1.265 on the week. Overall, he is slashing .325/.420/.525 on the season, with 13 hits, including three doubles and six walks. Gold also has already racked up double digits in both runs (12) and RBIs (16).
On the bump, Robinson made the most of his sole appearance on the week. At home against Lexington County, the redshirt-senior from USC Aiken threw a complete game shutout across a run-ruled 7-inning contest. He earned the win and had an unblemished ERA, while he held opposing batters to a .160 average and just four hits against him. Robinson also walked four and struck out seven to finish with a 1.14 WHIP and K/9 of 9.00. So far this season, the 6-0, 190-pound righty is 2-2 with a 6.43 ERA across 28 innings. He’s surrendered 21 runs — 20 earned — on 33 hits, walked 15 and struck out 21.
