The Coastal Plain League announced today that Jared Kirven of the Lexington County Blowfish was named Hitter of the Week, while Braden Scott of the Macon Bacon earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the final week of the CPL regular season (August 10 – August 15.) CPL Players of the Week are brought to you by Trackman Baseball, providing players and coaches next-generation analytical data all season long.

Kirven, a sophomore at the College of Charleston, wrapped up his 2020 season with an impressive .440 batting average across seven games and 25 at-bats as the Blowfish fell just short of clinching a spot in the Southern Region Championship game. The catcher finished with 11 total hits including three doubles and six RBIs for a .500 on-base percentage and .560 slugging. Proving his worth on the basepaths, Kirven also went a perfect three-for-three on stolen bases while scoring four runs.

Meanwhile Scott was turned to three times on the mound in week seven, giving up no runs across 4 1/3 innings pitched in appearances versus Savannah and Lexington County. In total he gave up only two hits and two walks while striking out six for a 12.46 strikeout per nine innings ratio and 0.92 WHIP. He earned two wins on the week, pushing his season total to a league leading four wins to go along with a 3.86 ERA over 21 innings pitched this summer for the Bacon.
