The Coastal Plain League announced today that Patrick Causa of Florence was named Hitter of the Week, while Chris Kernen of Wilson earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the third week of CPL action (June 10 – June 16.)

Causa, a Mount St. Mary’s rising junior, blazed to a .568 batting average across five games and sixteen at-bats for the RedWolves. The outfielder notched nine total hits, including a double and triple to go along with four runs scored and three RBIs. He also drew three walks to push his on-base percentage to .632 while also holding a .750 slugging percentage for the week.

On the mound, Kernen tossed a seven-inning complete-game shutout, helping the Tobs sweep a doubleheader versus the Martinsville Mustangs on June 16. The NC Central RS-junior, allowed only three hits while striking out nine for a 11.57 K/9. He also showed excellnt control tossing 55 of 78 pitches for strikes and walking zero batters on the day for a 0.42 WHIP.
