The Coastal Plain League announced today that Austin Pharr of HP-Thomasville was named Hitter of the Week, while Ryan Evans of Martinsville earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the sixth week of CPL action (July 1 – July 7.)

To say Pharr had an explosive week would be an understatement as the Columbus State rising senior put on a show for fans, finishing the week with a .423 batting average across six games and 26 at-bats. In total he scored nine runs while notching two doubles, four home runs and 10 RBIs for a .962 slugging percentage while also walking once to bump his on-base percentage to .444. Pharr also took part in the 2018 All-Star festivities as a member of the winning National All-Stars this past Sunday and Monday in Lexington, S.C., home of the Lexington County Blowfish.

On the mound, Evans was everything a closer needs to be for the Martinsville Mustnags in week six, racking up three saves in three apearances. The Grambling State rising senior allowed only two hits across his four innings of work while striking out three and walking three for a clean 1.000 WHIP and .143 opponent’s batting average. Evans big week bumped him to nine total saves on the year, making him the league leader in that category.
