The Coastal Plain League announced today that McLendon Sears of Florence was named Hitter of the Week, while Addison Domingo of Martinsville earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the eighth week of CPL action (July 15 – July 21.)

Sears, a rising sophomore at the College of Charleston, caught fire in week eight for the RedWolves, finishing the week with a .467 batting average across four games and 15 at-bats. In total he notched seven hits with two doubles, two triples, one home run and four RBIs for a 1.067 slugging percenage. The promising shortstop also drew one walk to push his on-base percentage to .529, helping him to five runs scored and one stolen base.

Taking advantage of the CPL’s new rule allowing post-eligibility players (players who graduated and no longer have eligibility remaining) to play the summer following their final collegiate season, Domingo has been one of the best in the CPL and he only continued that this week in a nine-inning complete-game shutout over the Asheboro Copperheads on July 21. The Point Park graduate allowed only three hits while walking none and striking out eight for a 0.33 WHIP and 8.00 K/9. Further illustrating his command was the fact Domingo only needed 86 pitches to get through his entire nine innings of work, all coming in a 6-0 victory for the Mustangs.
