Game Recap

After a scoreless first three innings, the East All-Stars got on the board first thanks to a two-out, solo homer to left by Peninsula’s Kyle Edwards (Old Dominion). The West All-Stars threatened in the bottom half of the fourth with runners on first and second and nobody out, but Pilots’ right-hander Caleb Lingenfelter (Liberty) settled down nicely to retire the side without any damage.

An inning later with East first baseman Grayson Fitzwater (Peninsula/VMI) on first, Wilson catcher Chase Waddell (Barton College) connected on a dinger down the right-field line to bump the East out in front, 3-0. After a scoreless sixth inning, the East would add another run in the top of the seventh. Peninsula’s Kazuya Jordan (VMI) reached first after being hit, and then stole second and advanced to third on a wild pitch. A sacrifice fly by Morehead City’s Nate Anderson (Kennesaw State) then brought home Kazuya Jordan to make the score 4-0.

The East added two more runs in the final two frames to defeat the West, 6-0. In the eighth, Jesse Ponce (Greenville/Dallas Baptist) reached first on a single. A walk and a passed ball later saw Ponce standing on third. Anderson once again came through with another sac-fly to score Ponce. Then, in the ninth, Carter Murphy (Wilson/South Florida) reached first safely after a dropped third strike and advanced to second thanks to a passed ball. He stole third before Greenville’s Jon Howard (Mount Olive) drew a walk, which put runners on the corners. Then, a wild pitch by Macon’s Kai Decker (Mercer) allowed Murphy to score the final run of the night.

After the game concluded, the Players of the All-Star Game were recognized. The TrackMan 2025 CPL Pitcher of the All-Star Game award went to Greenville’s Quinn Holt (Keystone College). The 6-5, 225-pound senior only needed 11 pitches to strike out all three batters he faced. Meanwhile, Waddell earned the honor of being named the Tucci Lumber 2025 CPL All-Star Hitter of the All-Star Game. The senior catcher finished the night 1-for-2 with a walk, a home run, a run scored, and two RBIs.
