DURHAM, NC – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today the rosters for the 2025 All-Star Game to be held in Macon, Ga., at Luther Williams Field on July 6 and 7. This marks the 24th annual version of the league’s summer classic.
The players were voted upon within their division (East and West) by CPL head coaches, front office staff, broadcasters and local media representatives from each market. Since the game is being played in Macon, the West CPL All-Stars will be the home team while the East CPL All-Stars will serve as the visitors.
Earning the start on the mound for the East CPL All-Stars will be Peninsula’s Cole Koonce, as he earned the most votes of any East Division pitcher and therefore will take the bump first. The 6-1, 205-pound right-hander from Southern Illinois is 1-1 with a perfect 0.00 ERA thus far on the season. In seven appearances, including four starts, he has thrown 15 1/3 innings, giving up just two unearned runs on seven hits, while walking five and striking out 20. Koonce has held opposing batters to a lousy .135 average, while sporting a 0.78 WHIP and K/9 of 11.739.
Toeing the rubber first for the West CPL All-Stars will be Boone’s Harrison Lewis. The 6-5, 250-pound righty hails from Campbell and was the leading vote-getter at pitcher in the West. So far in 2025, he is 2-2 with a 2.45 ERA. In 18 1/3 innings of work, he’s allowed 10 runs – five earned – on 14 hits, walked 10 and struck out 20. Opposing batters are swinging .200 against Lewis, who also has a WHIP of 1.31 and a K/9 of 9.818.
Offensively, the East will be led by Morehead City’s Tanner Mally (Western Michigan) and Carlos Pena (Indiana State) from the Pilots. Mally leads the league in batting average at .413 to go with 19 runs scored and 11 RBIs. Pena, who is slashing .402/.500/.828 is currently leading the CPL in both home runs (11) and RBIs (28). Countering them for the West will be the Bigfoots Michael Young (South Alabama) and Lexington County’s Zach Cowart (Lander). Young leads the West Division with a .409 average, while also sporting a .606 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .512. Cowart, meanwhile, swings .405 with 18 runs, 19 RBIs and 16 walks.
The head and assistant coaches for both the East and West All-Star teams will be announced on Tuesday. Full All-Star rosters will be posted to the All-Star page of the league’s site on Tuesday afternoon following the announcement of the All-Star coaches.
