Coastal Plain League alum, Jake Cousins, made his Major League debut June 21 for the Milwaukee Brewers. Cousins entered the game in relief in the sixth inning, pitching two scoreless, no-hit, innings with five strikeouts in the Brewers 5-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Illinois native was drafted in the 20th round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Washington Nationals out of the University of Pennsylvania. The right-hander was eventually traded to Milwaukee in 2019 and in total spent four seasons in the minors, putting together an impressive a 2.51 ERA across 89 2/3 innings pitched while striking out 104 batters. As the Brewers looked to bolster their bullpen, Cousins was brought up and eventually made his debut last night.

Cousins played for the Edenton Steamers (no longer in the CPL) during the 2013 season, finishing with a 3.48 ERA across 20 2/3 innings pitched while striking out 22. His debut marks the 145th all-time former CPL player to make their major league debut and the sixth of the 2021 MLB season.
