LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. – The Coastal Plain League and Lexington County Blowfish are excited to reveal the 2018 CPL All-Star Show logo. The 20th annual All-Star event will take place at the Lexington County Baseball Stadium in Lexington, S.C. July 8-9 2018.

“Inside this symbol we looked to identify a way to showcase our star in Lexington County, Lake Murray-the Jewel of South Carolina,” explained Blowfish co-owner Bill Shanahan. “What began as a source of energy for the area in 1930 has become a major recreation area, and an abundant resource for drinking water, fisheries and wildlife habitats. The hydroelectric lake intake towers create enormous power to help us in our everyday lives. The relaxation from skimming her surface in a boat or merely driving over the dam is restorative. Lake Murray exemplifies much of what we find beautiful in Baseball. A brute strength with a simple grace to be enjoyed and respected.”

The Lexington County Blowfish organization is proud to host the Coastal Plain League’s 2018 All-Star Game. Our Lake Murray region and Lexington County match the power and grace of the players who will be on the All-Star team. The Blowfish are excited to treat the All-Star Representatives as the CPL’s Crown Jewel during our exciting planned CPL All-Star 18 Show festivities. Players and fans of baseball will have a fabulous and deserved All-Star experience, right here, in South Carolina and Lexington County.

The Coastal Plain League partnered with Skye Design Studios (www.sdsbranding.com) for the fifth consecutive year to develop its 2018 All-Star Game logo. SDS is a brand identity and design firm based in the greater New York City area with a satellite location in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

“During our creative process, we explored a variety of ideas symbolic of Lexington County – such as the purple martin, palmetto, and the state of South Carolina itself – that could serve as complementary icons to Blowie,” said Skye Dillon. “Ultimately, the Lake Murray Dam was selected to function as the landmark of the region. In addition to its place in the logo, its role can be further activated by incorporating Lake Murray into some of the event’s festivities next summer.”

The All-Star festivities will begin on Sunday, July 8th, when the Blowfish host the All-Star Fan Fest. This will include the fan favorite Home Run Derby, which gives CPL All-Stars a chance to battle it out to see who has the most power with the bat.

“It is a great honor to award our All-Star Show to the Lexington County Blowfish for 2018,” said Coastal Plain League COO/Commissioner Justin Sellers. “This event has grown in popularity each year; attracting fans locally, regionally, and nationally to our host community. Owners Bill and Vicki Shanahan, Vice-President Brian Larkin, and the Blowfish staff have done a wonderful job in operating the club and being a huge part of the community. I know they are excited to showcase Lexington County next summer. I am confident that they will create a memorable event for our players, coaches, umpires, and fans!”

As part of the “All-Star Show”, immediately before Sunday’s Home Run Derby, there will also be a “mini home run derby” when local media and celebrities will face off against invited Dixie Youth baseball stars representing all the Lexington County Dixie Youth Leagues. Temporary fences will be set up past the infield to provide fun and excitement to the contest. Fans will also have the chance to meet both CPL All-Star teams during that time. The complete list of 2018 All-Star Show events will be announced as it draws closer. The midsummer classic will feature all stars from all sixteen CPL teams.

“We are honored to host the 2018 CPL All-Star Show, to showcase Lexington County and believe fans from all over the country are in for two days of great summer collegiate baseball action and fun!” said Blowfish Vice President Brian Larkin.
