DURHAM, NC – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced this morning that the Florence Flamingos will play host to the 2026 All-Star Game. The two-day event will be held at Carolina Bank Field in Florence, S.C., on July 6 and 7. This will mark the league’s 26th All-Star event in its soon-to-be 30-year history.
“We look forward to celebrating our next All-Star Game in Florence in 2026,” said CPL Commissioner Chip Allen. “Most may not know, but Florence is one of our original six teams from 1997 (then located in Raleigh and relocated to Florence in 1998), so the community there is special to us. We look forward to seeing what Thad (Parsons), Mitchell (Lister), and the Flamingos front office have in stores for a fun-filled two days.”
The All-Star event highlights the best talent that season across the CPL, with 60 players representing the East and West Divisions. Not only is being a CPL All-Star a great honor, but the CPL average 2.5 of its All-Stars each season go on to reach the Major Leagues. This feat includes such names as Ryan Zimmerman, Alec Bohm, Kevin Youkilis, Nicky Lopez, and Jake Cave.
This will be the third time the All-Star Game has been played in Florence, and even more interesting, the third different stadium within the city. The organization was originally known as the RedWolves and hosted its first All-Star Game at American Legion Field in 2004. In 2015, the event returned to Florence, but this time, it was played at the RedWolves new home, Francis Marion’s Cormell Field at Sparrow Stadium.
“As we celebrate five seasons as the Flamingos, we are excited for the CPL All-Star Game to return to Florence for the first time in over a decade,” said Florence President Mitchell Lister. “Carolina Bank Field is a perfect venue to spotlight the innovation of the CPL and the best talent in our league. We look forward to a great event in 2026.”
