Former Lexington County Blowfish Wil Crowe, made his Major League debut August 22 for the Washington Nationals. Crowe earned the start on the mound, allowing four runs over 3 2/3 with two strikeouts in the Nationals 5-3 loss to the Miami Marlins.
Crowe was drafted in the second round of the 2017 MLB Draft by the Nationals out of the University of South Carolina. The right-hander spent three seasons at the minor league level, accumulating a career 4.03 ERA with 241 strikeouts and 18 wins in 57 games started. He was selected as the team’s designated 29th-man for the Nationals doubleheader and was given the start for game two.
Crowe spent the 2016 summer with the Blowfish, finishing with a 2.05 ERA and 25 strikeouts over 18 innings pitched in five starts. His debut marks the 137th all-time former CPL player to make their major league debut and the seventh of the 2020 MLB season. Crowe’s debut pushes the Blowfish’s major league alumni total to six.
