Former HP-Thomasville HiTom, Brody Koerner, made his Major League debut August 3 for the New York Yankees. Koerner came on in relief in the seventh, giving up one run and two hits in two innings of work in the Yankees 13-1 win over the Baltimore Orioles.

The Winchester, Virginia native was drafted in the 17th round of the 2015 MLB Draft by the Yankees out of Clemson University. In six minor league seasons before his call-up, Koerner held a 24-20 record with eight saves, a 3.79 ERA and 322 strikeouts in 434.0 innings pitched over 108 appearances (65 starts).

Koerner spent both the 2013 and 2014 summer with the HiToms, with his beat season coming in 2014 as he put up a 3.83 ERA and 5-2 record across 56 1/3 innings pitched. His debut marks the 151st all-time former CPL player to make their major league debut and the twelfth of the 2021 MLB season. This debut also pushes the HiToms major league alumni total to 18.
