The Coastal Plain League announced today that Brennan Milone of Lexington County was named Hitter of the Week, while Brett Kerry of Lexington County earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the third week of the CPL regular season (July 13 – July 19.) CPL Players of the Week are brought to you by Trackman Baseball, providing players and coaches next-generation analytical data all season long.
Milone, a freshman at South Carolina, continued his impressive summer with a .444 average across six games played and 27 at-bats for the Blowfish in week three. The infielder finished with 12 total hits, including two doubles, one triple and two home runs to go along with his nine RBIs for a .815 slugging percentage. Milone also managed nine runs scored and one walk off of a .448 on-base percentage, all-in-all pushing him to a season rank of second in home runs with six and third in RBIs with 19.
On the mound, Kerry had a stellar outing on July 13 against the Blowfish’s in-division foe the Savannah Bananas. Going a full five innings, the South Carolina sophomore allowed only three hits, no runs and no walks while striking out seven for the win. His effort produced a 12.60 strikeout per nine ratio and 0.60 WHIP while pushing his season totals to 3.36 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 11.2 inning pitched.
