DURHAM, NC – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today that Peninsula’s Carlos Pena and Lexington County’s Blythe Keisler were named the TrackMan CPL Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for Week 1 (May 29-June 7) of the 2025 season.
Returning to the Pilots from last season, Pena hasn’t wasted any time getting reacclimatized to the league. A senior outfielder from Indiana State, he led the league in five different offensive categories on the week: runs (12), RBIs (12), home runs (7), slugging percentage (1.308), and OPS (1.896). Oh, and he also batted .462 with 12 hits, five walks, and a double. Tack on the fact he reached base another three times due to being hit and also swiped three bags, and you can see how Pena was important to Peninsula’s 7-0 start last week.
Meanwhile, the 6-0, 190-pound Keisler made two appearances out of the bullpen for the Blowfish, picking up a pair of wins to go along with a 0.00 ERA. He pitched five complete innings overall, allowing just two hits and walking one, while striking out 10. A sophomore lefty from Augusta University, he also sported a WHIP of 0.60 and K/9 of 18.000, while holding opposing batters to a lousy .118 average against him.
