DURHAM, NC – The Coastal Plain League (CPL) announced today that Wilson’s Chase Waddell and Nick Napolitano of Forest City were honored as the TrackMan CPL Hitter and Pitcher of the Week respectively for Week 2 (June 8-June 14) of the 2025 season. Both players play collegiately at Barton College.
No stranger to the CPL, Waddell is in his third straight season with the Tobs. In six games on the week, he racked up a league-high 10 hits to go with a league-best .588 average. A 6-2, 215-pound catcher, he was second in the league in walks (8), while scoring eight runs and collecting six RBIs thanks in part to three doubles and a home run. He had a .941 slugging percentage to go with league highs in on-base percentage (.720) and OPS (1.661). So far in 2025, Waddell currently leads the league with a .471 average. He has 16 hits, including four doubles and a pair of dingers to go along with 11 walks, 10 runs and 10 RBIs.
Napolitano made one start on the week for the Owls, and pitched masterfully. In six innings of work, the junior surrendered just one hit with one walk, while he struck out six. A 6-2, 200-pound right-hander kept batters to a meager 0.53 average, while flashing a league-best 0.33 WHIP to go with his unblemished ERA. On the season, Napolitano is 1-0 with at 3.21 ERA through 14 innings. He’s been charged with five runs – all earned – on nine hits, as well as five walks and a team-best 17 strikeouts.
